Burned, a temporary installation at the Copenhagen Light Festival 2022. The installation was a thought-provoking installation designed to draw attention to the increasing amount of plastic waste produced in Denmark. By using an inclusive, visually understandable, and attention-grabbing approach, BURNED invited visitors to explore and reflect on their use of plastic through an interactive experience. Hundreds of kilos of plastic waste were sourced and melted, along with recognizable objects targeting different segments of the public.

concept
The installation BURNED is motivated by the premise that the majority of plastic waste produced in Denmark today is being burned. The installation aimed to draw attention to this issue by using an inclusive, visually understandable, and attention-grabbing approach. The brief was
“How can we get people in, all ages and with all backgrounds, to stop and look, and then reflect on their use of plastic?"
Installation
The object was made by sourcing and melting hundreds of kilos of plastic waste. Additionally, we incorporated recognizable objects, targeting different segments of the public/festival-goers. The installation was made interactive to further enforce an explorative parameter to the experience.
The installation was active between 4-27 February at Havnegade v. Inderhavnsbroen.
